Open Question: How do I get networked in to find a good job in Baton Rouge, Louisiana?

I am currently moving to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, but I am having a large amount of trouble finding a job. I have a degree in Political Science and I have experience in many different areas. I am an extremely hard worker and have always kept 2 jobs until I can find one solid career. I felt like this would be one way to talk to people in the area and find out if there are any job opportunities around, as well as networking and finding out about the area. I am from Louisiana, so the area is not new to me, but please feel free to let me in on the job market and where are good places to look as far as finding good jobs.
